Gas prices continue to fall across the region and the nation, according to organizations that track those numbers.

The AAAsays Rochester is now averaging $2.33 a gallon, down a little over 2 cents from last week, and the price is about 53 cents lower than a year ago.

The New York State average is $2.40 per gallon, two cents down from last week. A year ago, the NYS average was $2.94.

A senior petroleum analyst for the website, gasbuddy.com, Will Speer said that, “Even an uptick in demand for gasoline during the Fourth of July weekend couldn’t slow falling retail gasoline prices.  The average retail gasoline price for the United States has dropped for 26 consecutive days, where it now sits at $2.23 per gallon.  This translates to a 16 cent drop in gas prices since the streak started.  These falling gas prices have been supported by the price of West Texas Intermediate crude losing 7.3% of its value in one week’s time.”
