After winning a decisive victory in his first primary challenge in two decades, veteran state Assemblyman David Gantt says he has no intention of slowing down. Gantt won about 68 percent of the vote in the 137th district Democratic primary, where he faced city school board member Jose Cruz and county legislator John Lightfoot. Cruz and Lightfoot fought off court challenges to remain on the ballot. Lightfoot came in third, with 11 percent of the vote, but he tells WXXI he's glad he ran. Cruz drew about 20 percent of the vote in the district that includes much of the city of Rochester and the town of Gates. Gantt will face only a Green Party candidate, Drew Langdon, on the general election ballot in November.
