Funeral services were held Friday for Bill Nojay, the former State Assemblyman who took his own life one week ago.
A funeral mass was held at the Lutheran Church of the Incarnate Word on East Avenue in Rochester.
Among those paying respects was Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority CEO Bill Carpenter.
He says Nojay did quite a bit for the community, especially public transit, as former head of the RGRTA.
"He led with such integrity and vision, brought in just a tremendous business model, and did so much for the community. And then serving in the assembly as such a great supporter for public transit," he said.
Carpenter says Nojay was a personal friend and someone he looked up to and admired.
Nojay is buried at Riverside Cemetery.
