An early morning fire on Tuesday destroyed The Chapter House Pub, but not the fond memories of its many customers.

This week, the city of Ithaca lost what many people consider an institution, particularly in Collegetown.

Now, people are contributing to a fund to rebuild the Chapter House Pub.

Investigators are still searching for what caused the early Tuesday fire at the pub. It's fenced off now. 35 apartment residents were also forced out.

Generations of students who went to college in Ithaca knew the place.

Cornell alum David Garlough was a bartender at the Chapter House Pub 15 years ago. He's trying to raise money using a website called "GoFundMe." He says if it's not possible to rebuild, or if the owners decide against it any donations will be refunded.

More than 55-hundred dollars has been pledged so far.
