Fruit & Vegetable Processor To Create 200 jobs in Orleans County

Canada’s largest fresh fruit and vegetable processor has opened the doors on a facility that takes up 13 acres of a business park in Orleans County.

According to officials with Empire State Development, Pride Pak will ultimately invest up to $30 million on a state of the art complex at the Medina Business Park to be closer to its U.S. customers.

The company has committed to creating 200 jobs at the site.

Pride Pak provides fresh-cut fruits and vegetables to food service operations and retail establishments including Wegmans.

Wegmans CEO Danny Wegman says the new Pride Pak facility will provide opportunities for farmers and also create food production jobs in the region.

Phase One of the Medina operation will be dedicated to the production of organic baby salad green blends for Wegmans.

The organic vegetable by-products from the operation in Orleans County will be delivered to local livestock farms and used as animal feed and fertilizer.

New York State is providing up to $2 million in tax credits in return for job commitments. The New York Power Authority is providing low-cost hydropower.
