Officials with the First Niagara Rochester Fringe Festival have just released attendance numbers in connection with that 10-day festival that wrapped up late last month.

They say attendance is estimated at more than 63,000 visitors,  compared to about 60,000 last year. But they say the ticket sales numbers are even more impressive. They were up by over 20 percent.

The show featured over 500 shows in more than 25 venues spread throughout downtown and the East End.

Fringe producer Erica Fee quoted a Ted Talk by producer David Binder who said that "A great festival can show us a map of the world, a map of the city, and a map of ourselves."

Fee says from the beginning, organizers were inspired by Binder's ideas to bring a new kind of creative arts festival to Rochester.
