Fringe Fest Attendance Grows 20 Percent

Organizers of this year's 3rd annual Fringe Festival in Rochester say attendance grew by 20 percent, topping last year's 50,000 by an estimated 10,000 festival attendees.

The producer of the 10-day arts festival, Erica Fee, says that besides just the numbers increase, she really feels that this year  "Fringe really came into its own, in terms of Rochester embracing the experience."

There were a variety of ticketed and free shows around the downtown area, and more than 21,000 tickets were purchased during the festival. Over 50 ticketed performances sold out, including PUSH Physical Theatre at Kilbourn Hall and Intrepid and BIODANCE at Geva Theatre Center.

This year's festival ran from September 18 - 27, with more than 380 shows and events at more than 25 venues.
