The last of four deacons in the Rochester Catholic Diocese was ordained into the priesthood Saturday.
Father Daniel Ruiz missed the annual ceremony in June, to return home to his sick mother in Columbia.
According to The Catholic Courier, Mom is doing much better, so Bishop Salvatore Matano scheduled another ordaination ceremony.
Ruiz' father, brother and two aunts made the trip from Columbia for the ceremony, and mom watched at home using an internet video feed.
His first assignment is as parochial vicar at St. Benedict Parish in Canandaigua and East Bloomfield.
