Former Rochester Police Chief Gets White House Appointment

WSB-TV

A former Rochester Police Chief has been named to a new Presidential task force on policing and community relations.

Cedric Alexander is among several people named by the White House to the task force which will examine how to strengthen public trust and foster strong relationships between police and the communities they serve.

The task force was formed in light of recent events in Ferguson, Staten Island, Cleveland and around the country.

Alexander was a police chief in Rochester in 2005, and now he heads up public safety in DeKalb County, Georgia. He is also president of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives.

He made a trip back to Rochester this past September praising a new Clergy on Patrol program in Rochester which involves local pastors involved in monthly walking tours with police.
