Former McQuaid President James Fischer Has Died

A former president of Mcquaid Jesuit has died. The Rev. James Fischer passed away in the Bronx on Friday. He was 90 years old.

Fischer was president of the Rochester school from 1992 until 2003.

Officials say during his tenure, the school saw significant growth including the opening of the seventh grade, expansion of playing field, and construction of a fine arts building.

He is the longest serving president the school has had. After he retired as president, he remained on as chancellor until 2012. A memorial mass will be held in the Rochester area at a later date.
