Flutist Catherine Branch on traveling the globe, learning to play her unusual body

WXXI

Talented young flutist Catherine Branch lives with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy. Before coming to Rochester to study at the Eastman School of Music, she spent a year traveling across three continents, commissioning and performing pieces inspired by the challenges of living with physical disabilities. In a conversation with Brenda Tremblay, she tells the story of how music propelled her out of a wheelchair and how she's learning to play her unusual body the way she learned to play her flute.
