Flower City Challenge Remembers Boston
More than 2600 people were part of Sunday's 4th annual Flower City Challenge. The bombings at the Boston Marathon were on the minds of many of the runners, some of whom either took part in that race, or know people who did.
The song "Sweet Caroline," now a staple of Red Sox games, was played right before the start of the race.
The 13.1 mile course went through a number of Rochester streets. It started at the Broad Street bridge downtown.
City Hall officials and police say they were mindful of security concerns in the wake of the Boston bombings and had developed enhanced plans to keep everyone safe.
