Flooding Results in Travel Advisories For Ontario & Livingston Counties

Travel advisories have now been issued for Livingston and Ontario Counties.

This advisory issued Monday morning just after 9:30 in Ontario County:

"The Ontario County Office of Sheriff is issuing a travel advisory for the Town of Richmond, the Hamlet of Honeoye, and the Town of Canadice in Ontario County.

Continuing heavy rains have flooded several roads in the Honeoye area.  With more rain in the forecast, it is anticipated that some roads in the Town of Richmond may be washed out.

No unnecessary travel is advised and we urge motorists to stay off the roads so that highway crews and emergency vehicles can reach emergency destinations.  County Road 36 at Route 20A is being barricaded to prevent traffic.

Also, County Road 36 is closed in the area of Jersey Hill Road near Lambo’s Mobile Home Park and the intersection of County Roads 15 and 37 is also closed due to flooding."

In Livingston County, this advisory was issued Monday morning:

"The advisory is due to excessive runoff from heavy rainfall that is causing flooding of roadways. Please use caution and avoid standing and/or running water on local roadways.

The Sheriff does note that a travel advisory does NOT close roadways and the purpose is to educate residents on the concern while operating vehicles and to advise people to use caution.

Travel Advisory; caution is advised since hazardous conditions could be encountered.

The northern end of Livingston County is having the most issues with flooding. Please use extreme caution. Patrols are in the areas with the most concern.
