Flooding Affects Some Weekend Activity At Local Parks

With the heavy rains of recent days portions of a number of public parks are under water.

Monroe County’s Parks Director Larry Staub says there doesn’t appear to be any permanent damage, just a lot of water and flooding.

Here’s an update from the county parks department on their status:

Ellison:  Closed for Weekend -- All Shelter & Lodge Rentals moved to other Parks or refunded -- March of Dimes Walk moved to RIT.  Dog Park Closed. 

Powder Mills:  South End Open -- Shelter & Lodge Rentals Open.  North End Parking Lot and Facilities under water & Closed for Weekend -- Shelter & Lodge Rentals moved to other Parks or refunded.  Pittsford Rotary Fishing Derby moved to Fish Hatchery Pond. 

Genesee Valley:  River Bend Shelter under water & Closed -- Rentals moved to other Parks.  Cystic Fibrosis Walk is proceeding, as planned,  on Sunday. 

Churchville:  All Sports Fields Closed & Athletic Leagues Cancelled 

Black Creek:  All Sports Fields Closed & Athletic Leagues Cancelled 

Highland:  Park Open.  Lilac Festival Closed on Friday, will re-open on Saturday & Sunday.
