FLHSA Announces Health Improvement Target Areas

Rochester, NY – A multi-stakeholder commission created to help area residents to live healthier lives, has released its first updated report to the community.

Finger Lakes Health Systems Agency's 20-20 Performance Commission has three target areas. They include decreasing the number of people using emergency rooms, reducing avoidable hospitalizations, and understanding the challenges that regional community hospitals face.

Finger Lakes Health System Agency associate executive director Thomas Mahoney says the goal is to lower preventable hospital and emergency room visits collectively by 35-percent. He says that would save more than150-million dollars in health care costs by 20-14.
