Finger Lakes Community College has a new president.
The SUNY Board of Trustees has voted to approve the appointment of Robert Nye to that post. He succeeds Barbara Risser who is retiring.
Nye currently is the vice president for academic affairs at Thaddeus Stevens College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and previously was deputy provost of the United States Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
Nye also had a lengthy military career, serving in the Army for 30 years including deployments in Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq.
Chair of the FLCC Board of Trustees, Donna Mihalik, says that the board was impressed by Nye's candor and compelling personal story and says he is "all about team building and finding consensus."
Nye is scheduled to start the new job at FLCC on July 1st at an annual salary of $200,000.
