First Street Light Festival in Rochester

Rachel Y. DeGuzman

Organizers are calling A Street Light Festival a spectacular multi-disciplinary light infused exhibition.

And it makes its Rochester debut this weekend at the Village Gate.

It celebrates some of the strengths of Rochester, according to the festival's founder and executive director, Rachel DeGuzman.

"Why Rochester?  Rochester is the photonics and optics -- which is light -- capital of the country and we also are very strong in arts and culture and those are two integral components of the celebration."

DeGuzman says this festival should engender pride in our city, and highlight some of the strengths we have here in science and the arts.

It runs Friday and Saturday night from 10pm to 1am at the Village Gate Square.
