Officials at KeyBank say they have been working to make the transition for customers at First Niagara Bank as seamless as possible.
Key completed its acquisition of First Niagara this summer, and customers will make the switchover starting this weekend, according to KeyBank Rochester Market President Jim Barger.
"First Niagara branches shut down at 3 o'clock on Friday, and they will reopen Tuesday morning as KeyBank branches," he said.
Barger adds some services will be impacted.
"If they are online or mobile banking clients, that will not be available to them from 6 pm Friday until Tuesday morning," he said.
He says First Niagara customers can continue to use their same ATM cards, debit and credit cards and checks. Account numbers and their PIN will not change.
Barger says Key is sending 1,000 of its workers to branches in the region to help with the transition.
Nine Rochester-area branches are consolidating as a result of the acquisition.
