Federal Officials Looking At Former Brockport Walmart For Possible Temp. Housing Of Children

Google Maps

There’s  a report that federal officials may now be looking at using the former Walmart in the Town of Sweden, near Brockport,  to temporarily house children from Central America who have illegally entered the U.S. without adult guardians.

Congressman Chris Collins of the Buffalo area says the U.S Department of Health and Human Services and the General Services Administration will be conducting an initial assessment of that building on Lake Road in Brockport, as well as a former convent in Clifton Park in the Albany area.

Collins says it is “unacceptable that the federal government is trying to force the hardworking taxpayers of New York to foot the bill to house undocumented immigrants.”

This news comes just days after federal officials confirmed they are no longer looking at the possibility of using a former Kodak building on Lexington Avenue, or a hotel in Grand Island, in the Buffalo area.
