The nation's obesity epidemic is the focus of a screening at The Little Theater tonight.
The producers of the film "Fed Up" argue that the food industry is a big culprit in the health crisis. They say that 80 percent of the processed foods that Americans eat have added sugar.
The film draws a direct line between the strategies used by Big Tobacco to get people to smoke and the food industry's aggressive marketing of their products to children.
UR Medicine pediatrician Dr. Stephen Cook is an expert in nutrition, obesity and physical activity. In the audio link above, he talks about whether the idea that sugar is the chief culprit in America's battle with obesity is too simplistic.
Dr. Cook will be part of a panel discussion following tonight’s screening of the film at 7 at The Little Theater.
