Fairport Police To Use Body-Worn Cameras

Fairport Police

Fairport Police officers will soon be using body cameras. The department considers the use of such cameras as an effective law enforcement tool that can reduce violent confrontations and complaints against officers.

The cameras are pinned to the chest area on the uniform and provide additional documentation of police-public encounters and may be an important tool for collecting evidence and maintaining public trust.

The body-worn cameras were purchased using drug asset forfeiture funds, therefore they were at no cost to the taxpayers.
