ALBANY (AP) An F-16 fighter jet is being added to the military hardware on display outside the headquarters of the New York National Guard.
National Guard officials say the Fighting Falcon was flown by Air National Guard pilots from New York during combat operations in the first Gulf War. It's being placed at the main entrance to the National Guard's HQ in Latham Saturday afternoon.
The jet will be displayed near an M-1 Abrams battle tank and an AH-1 Cobra attack helicopter. Both were used by New York Army National Guard soldiers.
The jet is being transported to the Albany suburb via a four-vehicle convoy from Hancock Field Air National Guard Base. The base outside Syracuse is home to the 174th Fighter Wing, which flew F-16s before transitioning to unmanned drones.
