Excellus BlueCross BlueShield has reached an agreement with Rochester-area hospitals that will allow the health plan to continue to offer coverage for some patients receiving Medicaid.
Excellus says about 100,000 members enrolled in Medicaid Managed Care and Family Health Plus will continue to get coverage under the plan.
Local hospitals agreed to implement changes that the insurance provider says will make patient care better and more efficient.
Back in September, Excellus announced it was withdrawing from Medicaid managed care and Family Health Plus due to unsustainable financial losses associated with the programs.
