Event scheduled on "clinician burnout"

The Rochester Academy of Medicine will host an event about the dangers of burnout in the doctor’s office.

New research shows that physicians experience burnout and suicidal thoughts at higher rates than the general population.

Dr. Michael Mendoza is the Monroe County Public Health Commissioner. He says the modern medical system causes additional stress for everyone.

”This is about clinician burnout as much as it is about non-clinician burnout. This is a team sport, and our nurses, and our social workers, and our nutritionists, and our medical assistants are all feeling the stress of the difficulty of the work.”

Next week's seminar is called: Clinician Burnout: System and Personal Interventions. It's at the Rochester Academy of Medicine (1441 East Avenue) on Tuesday, September 26th at 6:30.
