Engaging Monroe County's Millenials

It’s called the monroe200, and it’s an effort to better engage the millennial generation. Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks talked about the concept earlier this year in her State of the County Address, and on Saturday she helped kick off the effort.

The monroe200 is comprised of over 200 local young people who have agreed to offer their insights on how the Rochester area can better attract and retain young talent. Members of this group were nominated by area colleges, universities, employers and community organizations.

The group will eventually offer feedback on quality of life topics such as education, the environment and sustainability, health and wellness, housing, economic development and jobs, recreation and culture and other areas.

It’s anticipated monroe200 will complete its work in about six months. You can track the effort’s progress at facebook.com/Monroe200 and on Twitter with the hashtags #monroe200 and #ROCmillenials.
