Officials cut the ribbon today on an energy conservation improvement project at the Monroe County Civic Center.

In partnership with RG&E, NYSERDA and NYPA -- the New York Power Authority -- the complex has undergone a number of upgrades and energy efficient and clean energy projects.

County Executive Maggie Brooks says the project will pay for itself through millions in energy savings over the next 15 years.

"We anticipate that an incredible $16.8 million dollars will be saved over the next 15 years from the improvements that we have completed here at the Civic Center complex."

The New York Power Authority is one of the project's partners.

President and CEO Gil Quiniones says they hope this project will provide a spark for the private sector to follow.

He says investments like this make sense economically, and are a "win-win-win" for everybody.
