Emeral Ash Borer Detected in Rochester

Rochester, NY – An invasive species of insect that has killed millions of trees has reached the city of Rochester.
The city reports the emerald ash borer has infested 17 ash trees in the Upper Falls Park area on St. Paul Street, killing one of those trees.
The beetle has been responsible for killing tens of millions of trees in other states where it has been found.
The city is treating thousands of trees with insecticide and removing ash trees that are in poor condition.
Residents with concerns about their own ash trees should consult an arborist.
