East Bloomfield Breaks Ground on Brewery

The Town of East Bloomfield is hoping a new brewery and hops museum will drive tourism to the area.

Ground was broken this morning on the four-acre Nedloh Brewing Company on Routes 5 and 20.

Owner Nate Holden says he and his wife, Josie, are former winery workers who saw something new and interesting in the emerging micro-brew industry.

The brewery will offer growlers and tastings on site, where visitors can also tour a hops museum. Holden says New York State was once a major grower of the crop. "With Prohibition and disease, it really wiped out the hops. We're just trying to bring that back to our region."

The Nedloh Brewing Company is scheduled to open next spring.  Holden expects the business to create 15 full-time jobs with hopes for expansion in the future.
