Don's Original In Brighton Closes

A well-known name involving a locally-grown fast food chain is leaving the Town of Brighton.  It’s Don's Original on Monroe Avenue.

The owner of the eatery Terry Klee says he feels bad about leaving the Brighton location he's operated for 17 years, so bad in fact, that he made sure he was out of town Friday when the restaurant closed.

But Klee says the restaurant business is very competitive, and because of where the Brighton store is located, he and his partners just couldn't make the changes they would have needed to in order to keep that business growing. So he sold the Monroe Avenue store to Tom Wahl's, which he thinks makes for a good fit.

"One of the biggest pluses was they were interested in keeping all of my employees that worked there for me since the beginning,  we are still going to remain in business in Sea Breeze, we are still going to remain in business in Penfield."

Tom Wahl's is expected to remodel the Brighton store, and Klee will still be involved in the Sea Breeze and Penfield locations.
