Republicans are holding onto their more than 20-year occupation of the Monroe County executive's office, with a victory Tuesdayfor Cheryl Dinolfo.
The Republican Party also strengthened its majority in the county legislature, but Dinolfo said she wants to bring a bipartisan spirit to her new role.
"We're one county, and you know what? I always say we don't corner the market on the best ideas nor the worst, but if we don't hear the ideas, we can't move forward, so I'm looking forward to bringing that spirit to the county executive's office as well."
The current county clerk says she will distinguish herself with a "boots on the ground" approach.
"I'm a person who is in the offices meeting with the people I work with. I'm out in the community to meeting with constituents who I represent. I'll continue that tradition as county executive- a real hands-on type of person. (I'll) roll up my sleeves and get the job done. "
Dinolfo plans to create an Office of Public Integrity and eliminate Local Development Corporations ( LDCs). The quasi-government entities have been the focus of a state investigation for alleged bid rigging.
