Dinolfo Names David Moore To Head Up Office of Public Integrity

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo has named David Moore to be the Director of the Office of Public Integrity.  Dinolfo created that office earlier this year.

Moore is currently Director of Public Safety for Monroe County. Previously he also served as Rochester Police Chief and from 2010 to 2011 he served as the Director of the Office of Public Integrity for the City of Rochester.

Dinolfo says that Moore is "the perfect candidate" to head the office and she says she looks forward to establishing the office with "full autonomy and independence."

Dinolfo had originally proposed the office in January, but then agreed to amendments to make the office even more independent.

The office was created in the wake of the bid-rigging scandal involving Local Development Corporations which dates back a few years.

Dinolfo has moved to phase-out the LDC's, and she says that in Moore's most recent job at Director of Public Safety for the county he has  been instrumental in closing down those entities.

Monroe County Legislative Minority Leader Cindy Kaleh, and Legislator Jim Sheppard, both Democrats, criticized the appointment saying that instead of following through on a nationwide search, Dinolfo simply transferred a person they call "an administration insider."
