Deputies search for missing Rochester man last seen at Canandaigua Lake

provided

The Ontario County Sheriff's Office is searching for a Rochester man, who has been missing since yesterday morning.

Deputies say 83-year old Richard Myers, who lives on Park Avenue in Rochester, drove from his summer cottage on the west side of Canandaigua Lake in Bristol late Monday Morning to a nearby marina on Route 21.

He asked for and got help starting his boat and was last seen walking back toward his cottage, with the boat running.

About 20 minutes later the sheriff's office got a call about an empty boat washing ashore just north of Myers' cottage.  Police say Myers was known to swim off the boat near his cottage.  He has also reportedly been in poor health recently.

The Marine Patrols from Ontario and Yates Counties searched the lake and the shore for Myers. They also used a drone in their search.

Anyone with information about his possible whereabouts is asked to contact the Ontario County Sheriff's Office at 1-800-394-4560. Myers was last seen wearing blue jeans and a red shirt.  The jeans were found in his cottage but the red shirt was not.
