Delta Expanding Service To Atlanta

Delta Air Lines

Delta Airlines will be adding seats to its service between Rochester and Atlanta.

Senator Chuck Schumer says beginning in July, Delta will start using a larger plane.  That will result in 33 more seats per day between Rochester and Atlanta.

Schumer asked Delta to add service after Air Tran stopped flying that non-stop route after its merger with Southwest Airlines.  Air Tran was the only other airline with non-stop service to Atlanta.

Delta has three flights a day between Rochester and Atlanta. The CEO of Delta, Richard Anderson , wrote Schumer telling him that Delta has increased the number of seats overall in Rochester by 30 percent since 2009.

Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks says the additional seats are good for both business and leisure travelers since Atlanta is the third most popular destination for travelers departing from Rochester.
