A coalition of organizations dedicated to attracting, retaining and empowering young professionals is out with a new report.
The group RocCity Coalition is made up of about 50 organizations now, according to the chair of the advisory group, Clement Chung.
He says the draft of its Vision 2025 report is out, outlining the current conditions of the young professional community in Greater Rochester.
Chung says while there are many opportunities for that demographic, there are also many challenges.
“Employment opportunities for young professionals especially at the entry level, (and) the availability of affordable housing for young professionals, especially in the neighborhoods they would like to live in,” he says.
Chung adds those issues and challenges need to be addressed if we are to move that demographic, and our community, forward.
The report surveyed nearly 750 young professionals and highlighted key issues in six subject areas: demographics, housing, employment, education, lifestyle & mobility and community connections.
The group's draft report will be presented tonight at 6 at the Rochester Museum and Science Center, followed by a panel discussion.
