County Executive Dinolfo Staying Put During GOP Convention

Local Donald Trump delegate, Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo, says she won't be attending the GOP convention in Cleveland next week.

Dinolfo, one of three local delegates, says she's in her first seven months in office, and is dealing with an aggressive agenda, so there is plenty of work to do here, instead.

"Given the amount of work we have ahead of us, the amount of work we're involved in currently, I thought that my time would be best spent serving the people here in Monroe County, making sure that we go forward with the work we have in front of us," she said.

Dinolfo says it's important she tend to local duties such as training all the members of the COMIDA board, including the newest member who was appointed last night.

She says County Parks Director Larry Staub will take her place.

And her absence from the convention doesn’t mean Trump won’t receive support.

"Donald Trump is the presumptive candidate, this is not a contested convention, and the delegates are pledged to Donald Trump. Donald Trump will be the nominee, of the Republican party, and Republicans will be supporting Donald Trump," she said.

Monroe County GOP Chair Bill Reilich and his deputy supervisor in Greece, Michelle Marini, are the other local Trump delegates.

The GOP Convention runs July 18th to the 21st.
