With temperatures around 90, the city has issued a Cool Sweep Heat Emergency operation for today.
That means hydrants, spray parks, pools and beaches will be open extended hours.
During the heat emergency, the Carter Street Community Center and city library branches double as cooling centers, where people can stay cool in air conditioned buildings.
