750 jobs are coming to the town of Irondequoit.

That according to local development company Flaum Management, which says Conduent, the company spun off from Xerox, plans to move 400 of its local jobs, which are now in Webster, to the former Macy’s at the vacant Medley Centre shopping mall.

And Flaum Chief Financial Officer Loren Flaum says it is expected Conduent will add another 350 jobs for what will be a call center operation. Conduent provides business services.

The plan is for Conduent to initially take over the second floor of the Macy’s building. Flaum says it’s possible the company will eventually take over the first floor, and that could mean a substantial increase in employment there.

Former Irondequoit Dodge owner Angelo Ingrassia purchased Medley Centre but has not yet announced specific plans for that property.

Loren Flaum tells WXXI News that when Medley is re-developed, having those Conduent jobs could help provide the kind of critical mass needed to help that Medley project succeed.

Flaum expects Conduent to be in the former Macy's building by this fall.

Town Supervisor Dave Seeley released this statement:

Today's announcement regarding the future of the former Macy's site in Irondequoit is a clear sign that better days are ahead for the Town of Irondequoit. Our community will be proud to play a role in the transformation and growth of a company that has meant so much to the region. I hope this to be the first of many positive announcements in the near future for the former Mall property, and throughout our business corridor.
