Coming up on Connections: Wednesday, June 3rd

First hour: ROC Transit Day

Second hour: Rose Soiree / Rochester Real Beer Week

In our first hour: Could you give up your car for a single work day? The organizers behind ROC Transit Day are betting you could. We'll preview the upcoming event designed to get us to give up the car and try other forms of transportation for one day. What would change? Would we consider the bus or the bicycle or walking? And what would the impact be if we all gave up the car more often? In studio:

John Lam, Reconnect Rochester/ROC Transit Day project manager
Bill Carpenter, CEO of RTS
Hugh Kierig, Director of Parking and Transportation Services at the University of Rochester
Mike Governale, president of Reconnect Rochester

In our second hour: wine, then beer. Two upcoming events offer a chance for the masses to get a look at what our local communities are doing. At 1pm, we'll preview the upcoming Rose Soiree in Geneva. Pink wine is not for college students and Sutter Home anymore. The Finger Lakes is making some of the finest rose on the marketplace, and the Soiree brought hundreds of people out to the streets last year. Talking rose with:

Morten Hallgren, owner and winemaker of Ravines Wine Cellars
Kelby Russell, winemaker at Red Newt Cellars

At 1:30, Rochester Real Beer Week is coming. What is "real beer," anyway? I suspect we'll find out. In studio:

Chris Schultheis, organizer of Rochester Real Beer Week; brand manager for Ithaca Beer Company
Joe McBane, owner of the Tap & Mallet; organizer of the Rochester Real Beer Expo
Jason Ellsworth, sales rep for TJ Sheehan
Geoff Dale, owner of 3 Heads Brewing, owner; organzer of the Hometown Throwdown
