First hour: Tom Golisano in studio
Second hour: Restorative practices advocate Fania Davis
We sit down with Tom Golisano to discuss his philanthropy, his legacy, and the work he still hopes to do. Golisano began making significant charitable contributions in our community roughly 15 years ago. How does he decide which causes to support? We'll address that and much more. Golisano is also the subject of a new documentary called 30 Years of Miracles: Tom Golisano and a Legacy of Giving. The film airs Thursday night at 8 p.m. on WXXI-TV.
In our second hour: The Rochester City School District is preparing to host Fania Davis, who has become a leading national voice regarding restorative practices. Davis frequently addresses the school-to-prison pipeline. She advocates for reconciliation processes. We'll talk to Davis about why she prefers this approach over stricter discipline. Our guests:
- Fania Davis, advocate for restorative practices and co-founder of Restorative Justice for Oakland Youth
- Kit Miller, Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence
- Ruth Turner, school social worker
