Coming up on Connections: Tuesday, November 11th

First hour: Mark Assini

Second hour: Marking 25 years since the Berlin Wall fell

FIRST HOUR

Mark Assini will talk about his surprise surge against Louise Slaughter, the status of the ballot counting, and what this means for his political future if he can't make up the difference.

SECOND HOUR

It's 25 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall. University of Rochester professor Randy Stone joins me in studio; he was there many times, including just a few months after it fell. Stone will talk about why the wall was built in 1961, why Communism collapsed, the subsequent deal regarding German reunification, and should (and shouldn't) claim credit for the end of Communism.

Also in studio, we welcome Open Letter Press' Chad Post. Open Letter published a book for the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall called The Wall in My Head. It's an anthology that features fiction, essays, images, and original documents. Open Letter is re-offering the book at a discounted price for the 25th anniversary.
