Connections

Coming up on Connections: Tuesday, July 17

First hour: Astrophysicist Adam Frank and his new book, "Light of the Stars: Alien Worlds and the Fate of the Earth"

Second hour: Local climate activists respond to Adam Frank's book

Astrophysicist Adam Frank joins us to discuss his new book, "Light of the Stars: Alien Worlds and the Fate of the Earth." Frank writes about how our planet relates to the billions of other planets that are suitable for intelligent life, and why climate change is a problem that crosses the universe. It's a call to understand our world in context, and to understand the challenge facing our civilization... if we want that civilization to continue for a long time.

Then in our second hour, Adam Frank will join a panel of climate activists and concerned citizens, who are responding to his book and its themes. In studio:

  • Karen Berger, lecturer in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Rochester
  • Abby McHugh-Grifa, member of Rochester People’s Climate Coalition, and co-leader of Citizens' Climate Lobby of Rochester
  • Peter Collinge, volunteer for the Citizens’ Climate Lobby of Rochester
