Coming up on Connections: Monday, October 19th

First hour: How to revitalize city neighborhoods

Second hour: Understanding the constitutional convention process

What does it take to revitalize a neighborhood, especially in urban areas? We'll spend the hour talking to people who have been working to strengthen their neighborhoods through various methods. Built into this idea is the issue of gentrification, and whether groups are concerned about it. In studio:

Eugenio Marlin, president and CEO of the Ibero-American Development Corporation
Scott Benjamin, president of the Charles Settlement House
George Moses, executive director of NEAD (North East Area Development)

In our second hour: So you say you want a constitutional convention, well... you know. Or, actually, you probably don't know. Most people don't know what a constitutional convention really is, because the last time New York State held one was 1967. On Monday night, the Interfaith Alliance of Rochester is partnering with the League of Women Voters to host a public forum. It's titled, "Nuts Bolts and Monkey Wrenches of a NYS Constitutional Convention." First, their speakers join us to answer what this process is for, and what it could be used to accomplish when the option comes back around in 2017. In studio:

Peter J. Galie, Emeritus Professor of Political Science, Canisius College
Brian Kolb, Assemblyman of the 131st District and the Assembly Minority Leader
Judy Weinstein, League of Women Voters
Becky Elwell, The Interfaith Alliance of Rochester
