City's Cool Sweep in Effect Friday

The City of Rochester's Cool Sweep program is being enacted Friday, as temperatures rise to 85 degrees and above.

There are several locations where crews will open fire hydrants, and run Spray Parks. People can also take a dip in the pool at several city pools, or at Durand Eastman Beach, where lifeguards will be on duty from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The air conditioned Carter Street Gym can also offer some relief from the heat.

If the temperature rises to above 90, the city declares a heat emergency. At that point, several city library branches will double as cooling centers.
