Dinolfo announces her candidacy

Cheryl Dinolfo is running for County Executive. She was formally endorsed by the Monroe County Republican Committee at their headquarters on Thursday. Dinolfo says she's already shown fiscal responsibility through her work as a county clerk.

"Through hard work and innovation, I have returned over 30 million dollars to county tax payers - a record surplus - to help keep property taxes stable."

Dinolfo says she would carry those values with her to the County Executive Office.

"I will lead a county government that keeps property taxes flat. I will lead a county government that protects and helps create jobs through smart investments that enhance and encourage private businesses of all sizes."

Dinolfo says she also has some ideas about how to make county government more transparent.

"I will implement a forward-looking integrity agenda that will eliminate LDCs, create an office of public integrity to investigate ethics violations, and post all county contracts online for public review."

Dinolfo's speech was full of references to ethics and integrity, following the arrest and arraignment of Speaker Sheldon Silver. On behalf of Monroe County Democrats, Chairman Dave Garretson released a statement that read:

"The people are ready – more than ready – to clean up the mess known as Monroe County government. Cheryl Dinolfo is yet another County Office Building insider who offers no hope to those who want honest and efficient government."

Democrats have yet to put up their own candidate for the position.
