It was a record-breaking January for car sales in the Rochester area.
Brad McAreavy is president of the Rochester Automobile Dealers Association.
He says 45-hundred-69 new and used cars were sold during the month.
McAreavy says that's the most since 2002.
He says the strong sales are due to a number of factors, including pent-up demand by consumers, and credit lenders in the automobile business are becoming more willing to finance customers that have less than perfect credit.
McAreavy adds the upcoming Auto Show at the end of the month is the official kick-off of the spring selling season, and it often sparks sales activity.
