Car found in water could be vehicle belonging to missing Perinton couple

Spectrum News

Monroe County scuba divers located a vehicle in the water on Wednesday that could be the missing vehicle they have been looking for in the search for Robert and Mary Ross.

The Perinton couple were last seen and heard from in late January, and the search on Wednesday resumed near where the Genesee River meets Lake Ontario.

The vehicle reportedly appears to match the description of the Kia Sorrento belonging to the couple, but that still has to be confirmed.

Underwater cameras and sonar equipment helped locate the vehicle in a stretch of the river close to the boat launch near the Pelican’s Nest restaurant.

The recovery effort for the vehicle will continue on Thursday morning.

Both Robert and Mary Ross are in their 70s, with Robert having last been seen at a medical appointment on January 30th. The last known phone call from either of them was determined to be made in Charlotte.
