Rochester, NY – Cancer and transplant patients in the region will soon have a "home away from home," as they undergo treatment.
Billionaire Tom Golisano has announced a 4-million dollar gift so that Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School can establish a new Hope Lodge and Hospitality House on their campus.
Colgate Rochester President Eugene Bay says it will be housed at the Trevor/Eaton Hall, a former dormitory for seminary students.
Golisano, with his 4-million dollar gift, says he's delighted to see a coalition built between Colgate-Rochester and the American Cancer Society. He says more and more organizations in this community need to look into these possibilities.
A public campaign to raise an additional 2-million dollars for the project will be launched.
Construction is slated for this fall, and the first new residents at Hope Lodge should move in the summer of 2009.
The new facility will replace the current Hope Lodge on Winton Road.
