A ribbon cutting ceremony today to officially celebrate the completion of the expansion of the runway at Canandaigua Airport.
It's been expanded from 3,200 to 5,500 feet.
That will open up the area to the global business community, according to Mike Manikowski, Executive Director of the Ontario County Industrial Development Agency.
Manikowski won't put a dollar figure on it, but he says the corporate community in Ontario County is growing, and he's optimistic the expanded runway will spark a great deal of additional investment to the airport and the community.
Efforts are underway to market the airport for corporate aviation and tourism.
He says they're already getting interest from corporations and businesses that may want to locate their aircraft there.
A combination of state and federal grants, and local money from the Ontario County IDA funded the 7-million dollar project.
