Campaign Ad Deemed Unfair

Rochester, NY – The Fair Election Practices Committee has ruled in favor of a complaint filed by District Attorney candidate Sandra Doorley, over a campaign ad produced for her opponent, Bill Taylor.
The ad states "Eric Magin, a violent felon that assaulted police, under Sandra Doorly - he walked free."
It also stated Magin, after his release, stole guns from a Sheriff.
The Committee ruled that Doorly did not have direct control or responsibility for Magin's release, the indictment number outlined in the ad did not exist, and Magin's release was due in part to an administrative error.
It also said characterizing Magin as a violent felon is inaccurate, and Magin has not been convicted of stealing guns.
Bill Taylor issued a statement saying he strongly disagrees with what he calls Sandra Doorly's "mismanagement that allowed Eric Magin to walk free."
He says he'll "continue to fight to ensure the community knows how Doorly has failed to keep us safe, and to air advertisements that do so."
