Thousands of people are expected to ring in 2014 in downtown Rochester.
The city is once again putting on a party, with a free family-friendly New Year's Eve celebration and fireworks.
City Special Events Manager Margaret Reichert says the fun starts at 7 with music, rides for the kids, caricatures artists, clowns and much more inside the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.
For those who want to brave the cold, there's free ice skating tonight at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Park Ice rink.
Later, the party moves outdoors for the annual fireworks spectacular at 10pm.
Reichert says the Main Street Bridge offers the best viewing.
She says the city will have plenty of emergency personnel on hand due to the cold weather.
Wind chill values are expected to be around zero tonight.
She adds there's free parking in city garages: South Avenue, Court Street, Sister Cities and Washington Square after 6pm.
Reichert says turnout for the family-friendly night has been fantastic the past few years.
She adds the city invests about 40-thousand dollars in the event, about 20-thousand for the
fireworks and another 20-thousand dollars for all the other festivities.
